Aloha from Hawai'i
And just like that, the Erich Sonntag Postcard Collection goes to the Tropics
Today the weather is quite bad (for summer, that is) over here, hence I need something to cheer me up. Could there be a better way to do so than looking at nice places in vintage postcards?
Aloha—Made in Germany
That waterfront sure looked different when I visited it in 2013…lest you’re asking about the “German Connection”, well, the vintage postcards in this section were all “made in Germany”, as their reverse, exemplarily shown below, indicate:
Natural Wonders of Hawai’i
I also found a few vintage postcards “made in the U.S.A.”, which I’ll share here:
If these make you want to go to the beaches of Hawai’i, well, what can I say?
Firstly yes beautiful and sure would be nice. And second I love this, another question I hadn’t thought of - where were/are postcards produced. Interesting…
My brother loved Hawaii. I think Maui was his spot. My sister-in-law scattered some of his ashes over there (also at his favorite place on Ebbett’s Pass over the Sierras, and on our parents’ graves-she kept some to mix with hers) He loved that place.
I’ve never been and will never go-too expensive-but it must be beautiful. Created purely from volcanic ash and birds and trade winds. Wonderful
