I’m not too far from Glendalough. The reason the entrances to the Round Towers were elevated was that in case of attack (pesky Viking’s and such) is that the monks could climb the ladder and draw it up behind them whilst the place was ransacked.

Thanks for the offer but as it stands most of my possessions are in storage and I fear the same fate would befall the postcards. They deserve to go someone who could display them properly.
I’ll definitely take the scans. Currently with Dublin rents being the way they are I can see myself living in that storage unit before long. It would be nice to have some images of Ireland before the current madness.

Ireland is a beautiful place. My daughter-in-law took her first trip-anywhere-to Ireland in 2016 or so. She loved it
