Amazing to think of everything buried by the ash. Especially the things that were unearthed partially intact

Thank you for these and enjoy the one and only Aix en Provence!

I lived for two years at 13 Cours Mirabeau in a balcony apartment

above the cafe Aux Deux Garcons. I have not been back in decades

but heard that, sadly, a fire broke out in the cafe and my apartment

building burned down. Now I wish very much I had a post card!

Best wishes!

I walked across that square several times, and I admit to having had a good time! Cheers!

Everybody gangsta til the earth starts spewing magma! I hope I get the chance to visit someday -- maybe the AI superfund can give everyone free trips to UNESCO heritage sites, the way American school kids get a discount trip to Disney World.

Ah, that's a good use of UN funding, right there!

If you make it to Pompeii, do plan a visit to the Archaeological Museum in Naples, which is where all the good artefacts are on display! (When I did, I had such a flashback as these artefacts were literally all the illustrations in my high school Latin textbooks.)
